Who am I and why did I develop this?
I am a 30 year teacher and practicing professional artist. I taught high school students for 30 years as an art teacher. I am the past president of the Ontario Society of Artists, and currently a member in good standing. I have shown in many exhibitions across Canada and my art is in many private collections. I continue to work with several prominent Canadian and US artists to hone my craft as I have over the past several years since retiring.
I developed this to help other artists overcome the lack of cohesion in their artistic development. Many artists read books, watch videos and take workshops and courses from artists they admire. By their very nature, these stand alone strategies can’t teach a cohesive way to improve your painting. You may think a comprehensive program must be expensive and time consuming, and won’t easily fit into your life- but the Confident artist Studio is a small monthly fee for a program that works whenever you choose to. Work through the lessons in your own time, and share your work for timely feedback from the community and monthly gentle critiques from me.
As a professional educator, I am trained to structure your learning for maximum benefit. My 30 years of teaching art to high school students gives me the experience to teach concepts clearly and succinctly, so you get the most out of every lesson and challenge. Teachers are trained to break concepts down into their simplest components, for step by step learning with clear instruction and quick uptake by students.

Along the way, share your work and ask for clarity and feedback from the private community. This lets you work at your own pace- the lessons always address your current place in your oil painting journey. Then you can ask others you know for immediate feedback on your progress, and steps you can take to progress even further. The clarity of small steps and quick feedback speeds up your development and your confidence!
If life gets in the way, no problem! Just pick up where you left off. If you aren’t new to oil painting, speed through the lessons to get to where you are and go from there. The community is always there to offer advice and encouragement.
